I'm Bill Bender, a nostalgia dragracer. I have drag raced for 34 yrs. This is a family affair with my wife, son and his wife. Racing now with a 65 Dodge - tiltnose straight axle 440 4-speed, a 63 Falcon gasser from the 60's and a 37 Fiat Topolino. We also have a  78 Gremlin bracket car. The Falcon is getting a nailhead injected Buick with 4-speed hydro. The Fiat runs a 327 built small block and powerglide. The Gremlin  - 283 build small block and a glide, soon to be changed to 340 small block mopar with 904 auto. We run mainly at Island Dragway at Great Meadows, NJ. On and off we run with a gasser group - "East Coast Gassers" at Atco Raceway in NJ, New England Dragway - Epping, NH. and Lebanon Valley Dragway - West Lebanon, NY. Will send pics. when weather permits.
Over the years I have raced a 409 Chevy and Yblock Fords. One of my favorite cars was my 63 Poncho 421 4-speed GP. I also had a 68 Mustang coupe 6 banger built to run in e/gas. Footbrake racing is only way to race. When you run all the electronic stuff and air shifter, you are not dragracing, the electronics, car and you are just along for the ride. I'm hoping my sons little girl will be a dragracer when she's older. We're working on it. She likes to watch dragracing with me now. Let's hope.
