Carlos - Md. - Duster - Profile   ( needs update from 2000 - 2004 )
1970 Plymouth Duster that Carlos has owned since it was brand new.
Carlos started racing on a regular basis in 1974. He drove the car to the track up until 1988. He purchased a tow car and trailer to enable him to make some significant changes to his 1970 Duster. The Duster is currently powered by a 9.25 comp. ratio 360 with a .484 hydraulic mopar camshaft fueled by a 750 DP holley on an edelbrock performer rpm manifold. The exhaust system consists of Hooker 1 5/8 headers, 3" pipes and Borla stainless steel mufflers. Behind the engine is a 727 torqueflite with a turbo action manual valve body and a 10" Fred Frye converter. The Duster still has the original 8 3/4 rear with 4.30 gears and sure grip. The only chassis modifications are frame connectors and Chrysler Super Stock springs. The best e.t. with this combination is 11.94 at 112 mph. Over the years Carlos has won 3 track championships, won the N.E.D. Bracket Finals in 1981 and won several Super Pro races while driving off the foot. He has been in 199 finals winning 121 of them with total earnings of $93,655. Considering that the winner's payouts from 1970 to 1997 ranged from $75. to $500. and from 1988 to present the winner's payout has increased to $800 to $1000, I consider this to be quite an accomplishment. This profile does not include from 2000 - 2003.
